| PET Hot Fill containers offer an economically and environmentally compelling opportunity for products that are currently packed in glass or metal. Economic benefits include reductions in scrap, shipping and logistics as well as increases in production and employee safety. From a sustainability standpoint, PET bottles typically weigh 90% less than glass bottles and offer an opportunity to implement "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" strategies.
Molded of monolayer PET resin, these crystal clear containers are designed with ribs and panels that provide the strength and stability needed to withstand filling at temperatures to 185°F (85°C), while resisting deformation during storing, stacking and distribution.
Novapak is responding to increased demand on the part of food marketers and consumers alike, with stock product line extensions and all-new stock styles and sizes of PET Hot Fill containers.
Novapak now stocks three styles of PET Hot Fill containers:
- A new Beverage Bottle in 12 oz. and 20 oz. sizes for juices and juice drinks, isotonics, sports drinks, teas, enhanced water and dairy beverages.
- A new Decanter Round style container in 12 oz. and 18 oz. sizes for condiments, soups, sauces, fruits, vegetables and other hot-filled foods.
- A Wide Mouth Mason style (Soft Square) jar for sauces, salsas, jellies, preserves, peanut butter, mayonnaise and other hot-filled foods. (The product is in final stages of development pending commercial availability)
All of Novapak's Hot Fill bottles can be manufactured with additional barrier protection additives, such as Amosorb® oxygen absorber, to increase the shelf life of the product.
In addition, Novapak can provide Custom Hot Fill Containers in small- to mid-size runs, thanks to a two-stage injection-stretch blow molding process, utilizing universal preforms that can minimize the cost and timing typically associated with injection mold tooling.
